One very popular Mother’s Day card craft project is the pop-up flowers card. Many mothers receive flowers on Mother’s Day, but much like store-bought cards, these don’t show a lot of effort. It only takes a few minutes to run by the local grocery store or flower shop to pick up a bouquet of flowers. This is not to say that flowers are a bad idea on Mother’s Day! Many mothers love to receive beautiful flowers. However, the DIY pop up flower card is an even more exciting option.
To make this card, you simply need a few pieces of standard card stock or paper stock. First, take one piece of paper (or card stock) and fold it in half. This creates the basis for the card that can be opened. Then, cut a triangle into the folded side of the card. When you open the card, you now have a triangular section that can form the base of your “flower bouquet.” Next, fold another piece of paper in the same fashion and glue the first piece to the front of the second piece. Now you have a backing to support the design of your card.
Finally, you can use small, colorful pieces of paper that are either folded or cut to resemble flower pedals. These can be glued to thin pieces of green paper to create 2D images of flowers. Once you have made at least 6 flowers, you can begin to glue them to the inside of your card “bouquet.” Now all of the most difficult parts are done!
